I had my ipod connected to my gigaware speakers, and after removing an aux cord from my ipod, my speakers made a loud noise and now all i get from them is static along with it appearing to have broken my ipod. I know my speakers still work perfectly fine, but every outlet in the back of my pc (with vista) is only putting out static at higher volumes.

This static symptom is what my Asus board did when its audio failed.

You can try resetting the BIOS/re-installing your audio drivers (If you are sure about the static from the board vs bad speakers etc) but I'm not too optimistic.
