Hi, I'm overclocking my i5 2500k to 4.5Ghz with a Vcore of 1.350 and while running prime95 and the Intel Burn Test, my CPU temperatures went up to 95c. I read that approximatly 70c under load is common for a 4.5Ghz overclock on this CPU when using my cooler.

My motherboard is the Asus P8P67 Pro and I'm using the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus.

Idle temperatures while at 4.5Ghz are approximately 30c.

While at 3.4Ghz and running Intel Burn Test it got up to 64c.

What do you think is likely causing my CPU to overheat under load?

Thanks for any help.

Solution
while hyper 212 is good, is it enough for 4.5ghz? i dont own a 212 so i do not know.
try lowering the voltage a bit, of course do some stability test, if you could make it stable at a lower voltage, you should see lower temps.
also, improve air flow

I'm running my i5-2500k @ 4.8GHz with 1.352 vCore. vcore offset is zero. Im using the cooler master hyper 212 plus with single fan (push) and my temps under full load are 66 usually, 67 max.
Other voltages to note:
raised vtt to 1.064v
raised pch to 1.068v
lowered pll to 1.791v
It seems my northbridge temps are getting a bit warm (40-50c) under full load, But i'm not exactly sure what that means :p
My motherboard is an asrock p67 extreme4 (NOT gen3).

something doesnt sound right here. possibly a couple things.

first of all, 95 degrees c is WAY too hot for a sandybridge. you are most likely bouncing off the sandys tjunction of 98 degrees c.

2nd, your heat for your overclock is a lot higher than i would expect. i have my 2500k running at 5ghz. i reused a true120 off of my socket 775 build from many yeas ago. arctic silver 5. i hit a max of 84 degrees c in prime95 and ibt. the evo is a capable cooler. so im not sure whats going on here.
