Agree with screwysqrl. Fx6300 for that priced budget is the best you can do while allowing for a low mid range gpu. Everything else is best bang for buck while meeting gaming minimal requirements. Id keep that build and if anything left over in budget or can try and save a little more a 7870 gpu would give you a big fps boost. But otherwise very decent build, probably playable 1080p on high for most games, medium for all. Its really a decent build, other than stepping up graphics card you really cant get better until you hit the $700 mark and even then your talking less than 10 fps gaming difference at best.

And anything with budget will have those same components but cpu and gpu changed. Example $750 build would give i5 orfx 8350 and a 7870 or 7950. $1000 will get i5 or 8350 and a 780 or 7990. Not until you hit $1500 then talk i7 or dual graphics. Case psu tower ram hhd optical and mobo are best budget/price, on any build. So you take away that price from your budget immediately, $300, and what you have left is your cpu gpu budget. Gaming requires gpu first cpu second, while keeping in mind to get a cpu that can keep up with gpu. So your build budget $500 - $300 (essentials) your left with a $200 question. Anything lower than a fx6300 or i5 will limit any gpu worth gaming with, i5 is $200 so fx6300 is your only option. With that $100 is left, thats leaves 7770 or 650 ti, im biased to amd, between those 2 650ti is the better card.

So there you have it, best answer goes to screwysqrl, good luck with the build, congrats on your purchase, hope to see you on steam sometime

A full 7990 build for $1K? A 7990 alone runs $799, and the AMD FX 8350 runs for $179. Unless you're spending $4 for RAM, $5 for the hard drive, and $8 for the case and PSU, I don't think so.

He stated he would be playing a lot of BF4 and Crysis. Explain to me how a 650 Ti Boost does any good in those games. A 7870 would be much better.

There is a lot more than a 10fps difference. 670 even competes with a 7970 and that is also a big boost from the 7870.

Even on that resolution you expect him to play high or else he would just get an Xbox One. On very high even the 7970 gets about 30fps. He could handle it, but not too well.

This. A 7870 has significant performance over a 650Ti boost.

Sorry G-Unit, meant a 7970, but im sure he got the point. And I said a 7870 would be a very good improvement over the 650 but informed him there were no corners to cut so he would have to save more if he wanted that card. And the 7870 is a great card, whoever mentioned it was crap and only 30fps, give me a game you got those numbers from and I will fraps it right now. im averaging 90 fps on cod ghosts on high with all settings on, cant imagine a game that would bring that to 30 fps on a lower quality projector which op said he would be using.

how about Crysis? I found it to have an extremely inefficient graphics engine requiring massive GPU power compared to something like BF4.

Anyhow, even if a PC can be built with a similar graphics power so the XB1 for a similar price, the efficiency of the console will still run the games better. The PC really needs to be around twice as powerful.

Yes and no, id like to see how a console handles crisis? I know its a gpu killer, but I don't see how 30fps on a 7970, not that I have and tried it, but from what I've seen with the 7870 specs difference against the 7970, I just foresee better results. I also believe for this moment for op, that build mentioned will be trading blows with Xbox 1. Throw in a better gpu and it'll surpass xbone 1. save some more money and upgrade to a 8350, it'll far surpass the xbone. Save some more money and sli 2 7970's (or any gpu you've upgraded to) and the xbone will never achieve any of that. And yes I realize, all this is later not now, and its throwing more money than the Xbox $500. But that's just it, my point. $500 xbone vs $500 pc will be neck and neck. But your pc will be upgradeable, easily, and fairly cheap. But the Xbox isn't upgradeable, well not easily, cheaply, or within manufacture recommendations. So your spending 500 on something your stuck with for the next 8 years, or something just as good now but with fast future possibilities. Plus when Xbox 2 or 720 or whatever the next Xbox will be I can only imagine what another 500 or 1000 for it, then you either keep you Xbox 1 or sell it for cheap. Even if you don't upgrade your pc, then when the new Xbox comes out and we'll say its a grand, throw that into the pc and you can see my point.
