Hi,

I am pondering on whether I should OC my i5 4670k. I am already getting an average temp under full load of 79 Celsius on stock clock using small FFT on Prime95. I'm using Corsair H80i as a CPU cooler; I'm also using 2 Corsair SP120 performance ed fans as intake and 2 AF120's as exhaust as well as the dual fan on my single radiator as exhaust. My room ambient temp ranges from 27-35 degrees Celcius.

My only purpose is for gaming. Games like Crysis 3, BF4, and etc. Is it advisable for me to OC?

Please advise,

to get a noticeable gain, you need 400 mhz increase which will increase your heat by quite a bit sadly.... like LiamJames said, if you really want to oc then get a better cooler and find a way to cool your room lol your 35c is making feel like i live in an iceberg here lol. there are water cooling kis that are expandable and have the pump, res, rad and cpu block. XSPC has good ones if you really wan to do something along the lines of that.

Thanks for the reply. Does overclocking give a significant performance increase on gaming?

Yes, but not significantly in my opinion, you could upgrade your coolers if you're that desperate to overclock.

IKR... in fact I'm even using H80i which is close to the cooling performance of the H100i... I idle at 27-34 degrees C,, which is fine.. but the full load temp is insane

I'm using CoreTemp to monitor the CPU temps. Is there a more accurate tool for this?
