can I get a reference card run like its sc/oc counterparts?

So yeah, like If i get an EVGA GTX 780, can I oc it to run like a GTX 780 SC? Sorry, i'm new to this stuff.

You can indeed!

EVGA even offer their own software for this very purpose!

Start off with a very, very low overclock, and increase it until games become unstable. At that point, downclock it a bit and make sure it's all running swell and stable.

Personally, I see no need to overclock an Nvidia card anymore thanks to the Boost technology in them. They already overclock quite a bit to hit it's thermal and power headrooms (My stock 760s overclock themselves to 1150Mhz, with me having done absolutely nothing).

Just be aware that a reference card may not reach the speed of a factory-overclocked card. Sometimes it happens that a chip doesn't overclock very well at all. It's a bit of a lottery as to whether it will or not.
