I own a Samsung 840 Pro 256gb SSD and a WD 1tb Black HDD. I use the SSD as my OS drive and also install all my games on it. I use the HDD as storage and backup. The problem i am having is that any file i pull from the HDD takes forever to pull down or load. For example: I have music stored on the HDD and when i go to play the music through either Windows Media Player or iTunes it can take anywhere from 5 to 10 second just to start playing the song. Does anyone know if there is something i have setup incorrectly or i need to do to so the HDD will actually do something in a timely manner?

Thank you for your assistance.

If it just does this sometimes, Maybe the hard drive is going to sleep.

Check your Windows power options to see if they are set to spin down after a fixed time.

Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Power Options -> Edit Plan Settings -> Change Advanced Power settings(blue text) -> Hard disk(+) -> Turn off hard disk after setting: NEVER

I use SSD + HDD and only get some delay with a notebook drive that spins down(in hardware, can not stop it, but it spins up in just a second).
