What cpu will best suit my system?

My current system is an Amd Fx4100 quad core at 4.2GHz with an fx3850 amd chip type. I have 8gb ram and a terabyte disc drive. I have the Geeforce GTX 560 1GB HDD and my psu is a 500w coolermaster. I'm hoping to get a new Cpu good enough to run next gen at comfortable fps on medium i have around $180 to spend any recommendations?

The FX 6300 or the FX 6350 should handle most games at medium or high with that graphics card.

Get an 8320 with a Hyper 212 Evo. I would save up for a faster video card and power supply though, because anything better than your 4100 will be bottlenecked by your graphics card, and if you overclock an 8320 at all, your psu couldn't handle it.

Agreed with ewok, might as well go with a full step up to an 8320 rather than a half-step to a 6300. Next a new PSU, then a new GPU.

The 6300 is a really nice card, but it isn't much of an upgrade over a 4100, and for the extra $40 for an 8320, you get two more faster cores.

A 7870 or 270x with a 700-850w 80 plus bronze, whatever you can find cheapest.
