Be sure to snag an FM2+ motherboard ...

The APU graphics engines light-up MineCraft really well ... you might be able to go with a Trinity to save a few dollars on your budget, if required.

Also ... the faster your RAMs, the higher the APU graphics will perform.

+1 with an APU build, you want minimum 8 GB of minimum DDR3-1866 MHz RAM in a 2x4GB format. If you can find faster RAM cheaper than 1866 (DDR3-2133 and DDR3-2400 have been cheaper lately for some reason it seems) then do that and be even better off...

This is from Anand's original Trinity article ... IIRC, he used DDR3 1600.

If you are interested, the Gigabyte GA-F2A88XN-WIFI FM2+ / FM2 AMD A88X (Bolton D4) has a promo code.

FM2+ motherboards will upgrade to the Kaveri APUs with a BIOS update.

Don't get a 6800k. You can get a 760k and an HD 7750 for roughly the same cost and will be a far better gaming solution and negates the need for faster ram.

That is a good option, but the 6800k is easier to install. I also missed that, on pcpartpicker he picked a 5800k which is $10 cheaper, but noticeably slower. The faster CPU and RAM will also be much better for Minecraft, as it isn't graphics intensive.

I have never had a graphics card fail on me. If you have a case with proper airflow, the extra heat is a non issue. Not to mention the 7750 isn't anywhere near the space heater my 7970 is. IIRC the 7750 is only 55w or something crazy low. It doesn't even require external PCI-E connection.
