My Radeon 7870 Sounds like a Drafty Window

Sitting here next to my tower I hear a

*woo*

*WOO WOO*

*woo*

*wooooooo*

*WOOOOOOOOOO*

*woo woo woo*

*woo*

First time I've heard this. Should I be concerned?

Oh so the fans are constantly running at 100%? Download GPU-Z and check the temps and fan speed under the "sensors" tab.

There could be an issue like the heatsink coming loose for whatever reason and the GPU fans are constantly maxed out trying to cool it down.

No the fan speed spikes from idle to full and back to idle sporadically

Hmm... I'd check the temps anyway. Sensors may be playing up. When did you get the card and what was the last thing you did before this all happened?

I bought this card in March and I was running Rome 2 Total War with it

By sporadically is it every half second or more? Could be signs of a loose heatsink. Check the temps.

Have you OC'ed and/or played with the fan speed profile?
