I have two 120mm intake fans on the front of the case, a 140mm top fan and a 120mm rear fan for exhaust. I can power 3 fans on the Motherboard. My PSU does not have a case fan power connector. It seems there are a few options to consider in order to make this work; 1) installing 3-Pin Y-Cable / Splitter for Case Fan Connection / 3-pin Extension Cable so I can power all fans from the Motherboard, 2) installing APEVIA Model CVT43 Power 4 PIN Adapter TO 3 PIN Fan Adapter to power additional fans from the PSU itself, or 3) installing a NZXT Sentry-2 5.25" Touch Screen Fan Controller and controlling all case fans from the interface. Is one of these options a preferred method?

powering from the psu or molex plugs will run the fans at full speed

a controller is good as you set it up with the thermal probes to control the fan's automatically.

fan splitters work good too as long as you don't power too many off it, but it still allows the motherboard to control the speed.

My preference would be to power all my case fans from the Mobo. I have four total right now and would like to add a fifth. Would I be fine power five fans off the Mobo? That would be two splitters.

should be as long as they're not high powered fans. most common ones are like 0.2amps or so, just no huge sized fans.
