Gpu fans upward and airflow

Hi,

I have a desktop with the motherboard on the left side of the case( while in front of it) so my gpu fans are facing upwards. Also my psu is mounted in the top above my gpu and my cpu is sitting down. I have tried multiple things with turning my case 180 degrees or 90. Both worked a bit when i removed the side,but ofc i dont want to do that. So the question is: Is it a problem with the airflow as how it is now. Or should i drill holes in the side panel so the gpu can lose some of its heat?

Also i have free spot for a 80mm fan at the bottom. Shall i use that as exaust or intake?

As is the PSU vents heat out of the case.

My gpu card reaches 84 degrees at max combined with jet noice. Today i ordered a new card with 2 fans ( msi gaming twin frozr 4 ) version. So i think im both.

And since all setups are mounted on the right panel with psu down and gpu fans down im a bit worried if mine will make problems

sounds like a slightly poor design. I do not think being upside down should cause this issue.

It is still within op levels but the problem with OEM cases like yours is lack of airflow! I would start by adding a 120mm fan on the mount in front of the HDD to force cool air in.

Only one problem there is no mount there.....

You can see holes there but there is a plastic cap over it as with all factory cases

The card. I have had cards in low air flow cases before too. Its the loudness of the card that sucks. temps in the low to mid 80s do not hurt the card.

The other user is recommending seeing if you can install a fan at the front of the case. You have a place for one at the back for sure.

I would honestly expect heat to just rise and leave via the power supply.

Plastic front comes off, added many fans on cases that do not seem to have access! It is the case that is the issue since all the heat from the CPU has to pass the GPU to vent out through the PSU!.

You can as well mount a fan in the back to get rid of most of the CPU heat.

Well with my new MSI N660 Gaming 2GD5/OC Card comming soon i think that the noice will be over since it has a waaaaay better heat sink. Also a part of the heat will be transferred at the back of the card and ofc a part at the front. ( right?) Indeed my psu will be my main exaust but is it usefull to drill holes in the side panel?

Also i only have a single case fan slot and that one is next to my cpu for a 80 mm fan. Shall i take this as a intake or exaust ( So my cpu heat is less floating in my case).

Btw the card i have now reached temps of 99 degrees before i changed the thermal past to artic. :p

Best way to see if you have air flow issues with your case is to take the side off and see of you get lower temps.

Exhaust fan in the back will get rid of some of the CPU heat before it rises. The holes are up to you if it was mine I would explore the fan options first.

before drilling holes in the case, maybe just open up the other expansion slots. Best case it will bring in some cool air as the power supply exhausts. The hot air should rise and not too much will be pulled back in.

Yea i had the same idea for opening those GPU slots. I will def try that first ofc. Drilling is the last thing to do.
