Need advice with HTPC

I'm experimenting with the idea of hooking up an old pc to the tv down stairs and was wondering what I would need to change in it to allow it to better suit its new roll. It is a HP pavilion with a dual core athilon 64x2 and 4 gigs ram and I have a GTX650ti I just pulled from my main rig and it is using the default psu. Was trying to decide if it needs a better card or power supply in order to play RTS games and HD video playback.

For video playback the 650 ti is nice overkill

I have on in my media center pc too.

Games will depend on the requirements of each game.

What is the 12 volt rating on the power supply?

the 650 ti is not power hungry at all.

um its just what the thing came with, listed as a 250watt with 14amps on the +12

Ok, that is a bit too low. You want to look for at least something with 300-350 watts. Does that power supply even have the 6 pin pci-e power connector?

I use a 300 watt with 22A @ 12 volts without issues, but my cpu is very low powered.

For sure, just make sure you have room in the case because some older HP power supplies had been a bit shorter.
