I had 2x4GB of RAM at 1866MHz before I bought my MSI Z87 G45 Gaming motherboard. I also had 8 GB of 1600MHz RAM, but one stick stopped working. Is it possible to run the faster RAM on this motherboard? Do I need to change RAM timing in BIOS before putting it in or is it just not going to work?

The 1866 RAM you have should plug right in. Intel has something that recognizes the timings and should adjust it in the BIOS. Push comes to shove you can read about it online.

I have the MSI Z87 G43 MB with Crucial 1600 MHz RAM OC'ed to 2133 MHz, so I don't think that you'll have any problems running the MSI Z87 G45 with the 1866 MHz Ram. Just select "XMP Profile" in the BIOS when you install it.
