Hi Guys!

Someone said this mobo:
"ASRock 990FX Extreme3"
is better for OC'ing then this one:
"ASRock 970 Extreme4"

Is it true?
Can I also just put the FX8350 in it WITHOUT having to update the BIOS?
Really don't want to mess around with that.

Please do not say, I don't know - rather yes or no :p

Thanks!
Mike

Not true, they are same. If you like asrock MB, Asrock 990FX Extreme4 is better than the two, those two of them have same problem for Ocing the fx8350 because they only have the 4+1 power phase.

Howdy man!
Problem is, I would want to buy it but I REALLY cannot go over €90...

Either board should do OK but not max OC, they have the same power distribution https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/pub?key=0AgN1D79Joo...

4.5GHz should not be out of the question.

Asus M5A97 R2.0! I went up to 4.2GHz but haven't tried beyond that because I was comfortable at 4.0GHz.

Hi :D

That is totally fine, it's about the max OC I want!
What would happen if I surpass the voltage?
The mobo will go boom or shut itself down ?

Thanks again for helping me ^^

They are both rated 140watts so they should be fine if you do not increase the volts to much.

Just to be on the safe side, WHAT would happen should I accidentally surpass it? :p

The CPU will throttle down to a low clock and everything would go slow(er). Computer will still function and work fine after CPU reset to full speed.
