Hello, I've recently been working on my home computer. I bought a new case for it, and I can't figure out how the power button is supposed to be hooked up to the motherboard. I can't explain everything in detail, but I can provide pictures.

Picture of the ending of the power button's cable:

Picture of the input on the motherboard:

If any more information is needed, please let me know.

If this is in the wrong section by some chance, I apologize.

Thank you for your time. If this is in the wrong section by some chance, I apologize.

From the top left -> + pLED, - pLED, power SW, horizontally
From bottom left -> + hd led, -hd led, reset SW
the text on the wires should all be pointing towards the same direction, usually.

Tried it. The computer turns on, but nothing will show up on the screen. Also, it will not power off.

This is not linked to these wires. Make sure you didn't forget to plug everything properly (including the 24V CPU power connector on the mobo + the bigger connector). If the computer turns on, your power SW is properly connected

Then everything having to do with the power is supposedly correct. Everything else seems to be completely fine as well, and where they are supposed to be. What would cause it to not power off via power button, and for nothing to show up on the monitor? Besides the obvious, of course.

On some mobos forgetting to connect the top right connector on this page: http://fareastgizmos.com/computing/ocz_sliready_gamexstream_power_supplies.php
Causes the computer to boot, but hang at the very beginning because the CPU doesn't have power, which reproduces the issue you are describing. The Power SW wire is simply some kind of GPIO (ie. sends a signal to the mobo when you press the power button).
