If i have a mother board that is dual channel supported, and i put in 4 sticks of ram that is Quad Channel supported would it work or not?

Solution
No what you will get is 2 pairs of ram in dual channel.
Quad channel is only for socket 2011
Yes the ram stick you put in will work, "dual channel", "quad channel" ram is just marketing.
It's like with Monitors that says "Windows 8 certified" Does it mean a monitor not certified for Windows 8 not work with Windows 8? No, it will work.

They are just designated either single, dual, tri, or quad channel because they are specifically tested in that configuration together to work. So, all 4 sticks in a quad channel set are just normal RAM that have been tested in sets of 4. That's why generally, you want to buy your RAM all at once, because a set of 2 sticks have been tested and confirmed to work together, although obviously this is not always economical or possible, but it gives you the best chance of having no issues.
