I use an Zoom modem for sending faxes. I recently bought a Lenovo computer running Win8. It didn't come with a serial port so I bought =>this one from Amazon.

When it's talking to the modem or the computer, whichever is the problem, it works good. But, periodically, for no apparent reason, it stops working. It seems like it either lost it connection to the computer or to the modem but it just stops doing anything. So I restart, (not power off then on) and it works again until it happens again and I have to reboot again. It's very annoying to have to stop in the middle of what I'm doing, and restarting closes all the open apps and folder so I have to get set up again.

Anybody know why it's doing this and how I can fix it.

Hmmm, Not to knowledgable on serial ports, they were mostly defunct before I got into tech things but other users are reporting problems with windows 8 using that specific card. Its probably just bad drivers from the company/manufacturer.

When you lose connectivity to the card are there any red "X"s / yellow exclamation points / etc in device manager?
