First, I'm not sure whether this topic should go into this section or PSU's. If this is not the right section, please excuse my mistake.

In my current build I have a Sapphire Radeon R9 280X 3GB Video Card and the CoolMax 900W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply, and I want to crossfire the GPU. On the Sapphire website it says that I need a 1000w PSU, but when I add 2 on pcpartpicker.com it only estimates the 2 cards with everything else using 688w. Should I upgrade my PSU or will my 900w one be fine?

Solution
750W (or greater) power supply with one 150W 8-pin and one 75W 6-pin PCI Express power connector recommended

1000W (or greater) power supply with two 150W 8-pin and two 75W 6-pin PCI Express power connector recommended for AMD CrossFire technology in dual mod

Copied this from the specifications of the 280x card on Newegg , so I guess it's hard to argue with that when it's printed clearly in the recomended specs. I still think that you should be able to use the PSU that you have as long as it has the required cables. Maybe go into this with the knowledge that it may require another PSU if the one that you have doesn't work.
