My old CPU Liquid cooler that I no longer use fits perfectly at the top of my Falcon Northwest case (The bracket is soldered to the case) . The CPU cooler is a San Ace MC Liquid Cooling system and has a 120mm fan. I have been experience above average temp. Can i just cut off the cooler part, drain the liquid, and cut of the 3 pin for the pump and use this as a case fan (exhaust at the top of case). Would it be just as effective?

I'm hoping this post is in the correct section; please move if not.

Is it ok to just cut off the liquid loop part and drain the liquid? Can i cut the 3 pin to the pump? Will the fan be effective as a case fan?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
