I don't have loads of money I have a new set up and Unsure if to run win 7 or another system for steam mainly.. call of duty ghosts . It runs in full spec in Windows but is there a better Os to use. . I hear rumours for pensive Linux boots and I just want a stable running set up.

Unfortunately for now it's Windows. I thought I saw an upcoming game that required 64bit Windows. This actually makes sense since a lot of games are requiring 6GB of system ram. I have a strange hunch that Half-Life 3 is going to be released for Ubuntu. It would be funny if it was only released for Linux. For me it would be happy days indeed if I could leave Windows behind.

For many years I have paid for Windows and I have used Linux and ubuntu.( my spellings may be bad.) I was told steam ran most games and I am only a call of duty and battlefield player. Windows just makes me feel vulnerable from viruses and was unsure if it ran also in the background anymore then other operating systems as . Am sure it used to.

Steam for Ubuntu is great but it is still going to be Windows 7 or 8 for best gaming. Right now there are 384 games for Linux on Steam and I just noticed Metro: Last Light has been ported to Linux!
List of games:

These are the cheapest prices for Windows 7 I've seen $59 for Home Premium. Site gets good reviews too. Scroll down for Pro/Ultimate versions

I plan to stick it out with Windows 7 until it doesn't work for me anymore. After that I will use Linux. I do want to set up a dual boot, perhaps if you get Windows 7 you can set up a dual boot.

I think Ubuntu installs games very similar to how Windows does, especially games on Steam. I know what you mean though, sometimes I have to compile a game/application before I can use it in Linux. It's funny, also if I step away from linux for awhile I forget all the commands.
