My computer will not start up but the PSU makes a buzzing sound.

My computer will not start up but the PSU makes a buzzing sound. I have already tried the paper clip trick and the PSU turned. Im thinking it may be the connector because i cant get the 24 pin in all the way,but it worked fine before.

    i5 4670k with MSI Z87-G41 and a 120gb Samsung evo
  5. What kind of hardware are you running off of it? Also, Is it a buzzing, or a higher pitched screeching? Buzzing is caused by transistors which is fine and normal, screeching means one of your caps is blown which means end of life for the unit.
  6. Do you have a card in it?
  7. I do not have any card in it.

Its more of a buzzing sound, but I did the paper clip trick on it and it turned on so would it be the PSU?
  8. Did you get the 24 pin in yet.

If a capacitors on it's way out it'll still turn on, for awhile anyway, if it's buzzing (think of like the sound lights can make) you have nothing to worry about.

No how would u suggest doing it, it will not go in.
  11. If the 24 pin isn't correctly inserted and secure your system might not power up.

  13. Was it inserted all the way before?
  14. no, so should i try taking the motherboard in to get replaced?

I would , because it should plug in and stay secure to the board.
