So, long story. I have a 1.5TB HDD and a windows install on it. drive C:\ was windows D:\ was installs and E:\ was storage data. I had windows 7 installed on C:\ and later on i upgraded to windows 8.1 and i installed it onto an SSD and renamed C:\ to Y:\ and began to use it as a random (in transit) last night i decided to format the Y:\ partition of my 1.5TB drive. after i formatted it windows won't recognize it at all. i'm wondering if i wiped my partition table and if so how to recover that.
EDIT: It turns out the drive just wasn't an active partitioned drive. turning it active and everything worked after that
