Hi all, I was wondering if you guys can help me out with a choice, I want to upgrade my system which is an dell xps I have had for about 3-4 years now, the only parts I have upgraded in the past was the stock psu for a corsair tx 650m, and the videocard for a gtx 670.
my cpu its a i7 920 stock speed (which I cant overclock cuz its dell locked >.>), 1tb 5200 rpm HD, and 8gb ram at like 1033hz or something.

ok that being said, I want to perform one of this 2 options:

A) get an fx 8350 rig, new mobo that allows me to use 1600 hz ram, new HD 1.5 7200 rpm and a new case.

B) keep the i7 and same ram and everything and upgrade the gtx 670 for a r9 290x.

which option you guys think would be the best one, also if I find a good price I may get an i5 4570 or 4670 instead of the fx 8350. thanks for your opinions. bye.

The platform upgrade will net you better performance and give you more options for expandability later on, getting a beefier GPU wont help you much considering you already have a good @1080P GPU.

hi, yeah im thinking that, since I cant oc my cpu and cant use better ram im kind of stuck, now, do you think the fx 8350 its the best choice, I live in mexico and the I core line its lot more expensive and alsi the mobos are harder ad expensive to find than the ones for the fx8350. ty

If an 8350 costs significantly less than a locked Core i5, then go for it.
