Hello everyone,

I currently have an FX-4100 on an Asus M5A78L-M LX V2 MOBO.

Would the AMD CPUs FX-6300, FX-8320 & FX-8350 be compatible with the MOBO? How easy is it to change a processor? I'm pretty confident with computers but I've never changed a processor before.

Thanks in advance.

http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/list.aspx?SLanguage=.....

download the BIOS that supports the CPU -> Install it -> turn off PC -> open up PC -> remove CPU fan+heatsink -> change the CPU -> clean the old thermal paste -> re-apply new thermal paste -> install fan+heatsink -> make sure everything's connected -> Done.

the only thing you need to worry is to be careful not to bend the pins. in the worst case scenario that you do, no hassle as long as it didn't break. you can carefully straighten them out with some tweezers

Thank you. I don't need to upgrade my PSU (500w) or anything like that for a new CPU right?

no. not unless you're trying to OC at an unreasonable frequency, like 6ghz+.

Would the 6300 be good for streaming + gaming or is it worth paying the extra for the 8350? I also have an HD 7750 GPU but I'm planning on upgrading eventually, will these processors be fine paired with it?

Go middle ground. 8320 is quite a lot cheaper than the 8350 but you can OC it to the same speeds easily. They're essentially the same chip but the 8320 is just clocked lower at stock. It would be v. good for streaming + gaming, especially when you upgrade the GPU.

dunno about streaming, but gaming-wise, with the exception of a few games, Crysis 3 being the most well known, most games don't make good use of the extra cores from a 6300 to the 8350. if you can confirm that more cores do benefit for streaming, then getting an 8320 or 8350 should be a no-brainer if you're willing to spend on it.

Both of the CPU's you suggested will not require a new mobo since all three have an AM3+ socket. As for bios PCPP told me to but it runs fine without an update so that one is on you. As for the PSU you shouldn't need a new one unless you are overclocking like Hazle said. As for 8320 vs 8350 the differences are only .5ghz core clock (stock) and .2ghz core clock (OC) which isn't too much of a difference. If you are worried about passmark (benchmark type) and cinebench the differences are only marginal from 100 points to 3000 points. Where the bigger score differences are within older versions of the testers.

Conclusion: with a $40 difference and very slim differences in performance, I would go with the FX-8320

I agree with the suggestion to go with the FX-8320 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009O7YU56. It's one of the best CPU's you can get when comparing the price to performance ratio.

The 8350 is a great processor but not worth the price hike for the slightly better binning.

don't get the 6300...its really not that much of an improvement over the fx 4100-4300.... now the 8300/8320/8350 sure as hell would be though xD, try to find a good deal on a 8300 pretty much/pretty close equivalent to a hot-rodded i7 920 lol, I want to put one on my MSI 760GMA board lol, any of the 8xxx series especially OCed would just blow the piss out of the 920 haha
