I want to buy a new PC for gaming and basic browsing at 1080p. I want an i5 to over clock, should I get the i5 4760k or the i5 3570k, Also the motherboard, is there a big diffrence. I will probably have a hard drive and later on an SSD. Perhaps I will add in a second graphics card for SLI, and I will get 8 gigs of RAM maybe 16. So should I get the z87 or z77. The newer one cost a lot more. I can get the 3rd gen one at micro center pretty cheap along with a extreme 4 mobo.

Thank you in advance.

Generally speaking, at the same clockspeed Haswell provides on average 6% - 9% better performance than Ivy Bridge depending on who's (review site) set of benchmarks you look at.

It would be nice if the actual average performance increase was 11%. The last time there was a double digit % increase in performance was when Sandy Bridge was released. The next possible time when there may be a double digit performance increase is Skylake in 2015.

Thanks I think I will go with i5 3570k and upgrade after skylake comes out. I think that I will get the extreme 4 mother board with the i5 at micro center. :)
