Hey guys. I bough a TXv2 psu a couple months ago. After about a month or so it started to get really annoying as it had a bad coil whine, or coil rattle I should say. Corsair is kindly replacing the unit with an HX series. Although I was promised that the new HX will be silent I'm not to sure. About 50% of the people who review the HX complain about the "fan profile" or "the coil whine". While others say that its utterly silent. When I get the HX (hopefully this week or the next) I have two options

1) use the hx.
2) sell the hx for the rm series.

Now I know the Hx uses higher quality parts, but I care more about the sound and how quite it is. I realize I wont be able to sell the HX at $150 or even $130. (Even if its new). If you guys have any psu recommendations other than the rm series or if you would like to put some input on what I should do your opinion is greatly appreciated!

The RM Series is actually slotted between the TX on the lower end and the HX Series on the upper end in Corsair's product hierarchy.

I own an HX750 and it's completely silent.

It appears that the RM Series is the replacement series for both the TX and HX Series.

The RM750 and RM850 both made by Chicony Power Technology have already been revised because of a thermal problem reported to Corsair by [H]ard|OCP during their review of the RM750.
