My machine: Asus ROG G55VW laptop
Graphic card: Nvidia Geforce GTX 660m 2GB

The problems:

I notice some anomalies after I got my machine OS updated to Windows 8.1. I believe it has something to do with the graphics but I'm really not an expert so I could be wrong.

There have been a few times ever since I updated my OS that my laptop couldn't properly load to the main interface. It got stuck to a black screen. And what I did was I press on the power button for it to go to hybernation or standby mode which would then switch off the screen and then press the power back on and then only I can see the main interface. The tiles and all.

The size of the icons in my "Notification Area Icons" (the ones at the bottom right), every different time I switch on my laptop, I notice that the icons are sometimes small and sometimes they're at their normal size. That can't right, wouldn't you say? What do you think is happening?

Your expert opinions are very much appreciated in this.
