I just bought an Asic bitcoin miner. The suggested PSU is a 600 watt, 80+ Gold. I have a Corsair tx850 (850 watt 80+ bronze, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...). Is it worth it to buy a 650 Watt 80+ Gold PSU, at $135 Canadian, or should I just use the 850 Watt one I already have? Specifically, will the 650 Watt PSU save enough energy to make it worth the $135 investment? The miner will be running continually (all day and all night). What about wear and tear on the miner, between the two PSU's? Lastly, what about heat output? Will the 850 Watt PSU output a lot more heat than the 650 Watt PSU?

I don't know what energy prices are like in Canada, but in the US you'd save at most $30/year at $.10 USD/kwh.

A 850 watt PSU will not use more power than a 650 watt PSU. That is the maximum power the PSU can handle. It wont be at 100% load all the time so you will not be using more energy. Stay with the 650 watt PSU

Not in general, but in this case an 80+ Gold unit will definitely beat an 850TX.

I'm not sure what you mean - energy prices are similar here in Canada, so the 650 Watt PSU will take 4 years to pay for itself - not very compelling. Is there another reason to buy it? Better quality, lower variation power, for example?

ASICs don't need high quality power. I can't think of a reason to switch out the PSU.
