Hello everyone,
I'm currently looking to upgrade my gaming pc. I'll be playing high end games like Farcry 3, Crysis, CoD Ghosts. I also do a bit of editing using Sony Vegas 12 and I use dual monitors for multi-tasking.Currently running an old i5 760 @2.8Ghz, I recently added 16GB DDR3 ram and a HD7970 GHz Edition graphics card. I basically just want to keep those, my 5TB worth of harddrives and my two 24" monitors.. so I've spent a couple hours putting together this system on my preferred website pccasegear.com.au:
ASUS Crosshair V Formula-Z Motherboard
NZXT Switch 810 Case Matte Black
Seasonic X-1050 80Plus Gold 1050W
AMD FX-8350 8 Core Black Edition Processor
XSPC Raystorm D5 Acrylic RX360 Water Cooling Kit
My reason for getting the 8350 is mainly the price, but also the overclocking capability. I'm looking at getting another 7970 for Crossfire, these are the only two listed that I'd be interested in getting:
XFX Radeon HD7970 Double Dissipation 3GB
Powercolor Radeon HD7970 3GB OC
Most people are saying another brand 7970 will work in Crossfire, maybe someone can confirm that for me. How much improvement in framerates/performance would I be getting with Crossfire and do I need it for what im doing? Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks!

That's a great build for what you'll be doing. For the cpu, I'd switch to an 8320. It's cheaper and though it's clocked lower, with that mobo and 1050w psu (which I think is kinda overkill but I'm not too sure) you can easily oc to 4 ghz and above and you'll have transformed it into an 8350! For the gpu, I'm not sure if crossfire will be supported with different brands. What gpu brand do you currently have?

It's a Gigabyte HD 7970 GHz Edition. I've done a bit of reading around the place and most people are saying it'll most likely work if the clock speeds are the same. Do you think either of the lower end 7970's I listed will overclock to the GHz edition speeds? Also I didn't mention before I would like to overclock the 8350 to something like 4.8-5Ghz, do you think that would be achievable with 8320? I havent done any overclocking but it is something I'd like to get into and from what I've read its very easy and effective with the 8350, which is why I went a bit overkill with the watercooling and powersupply :D  thanks for the feedback
