On a single monitor setup which would be best? my monitor is 19" plan on going 24" soon also the cpu running it will be i5-2500k im trying to build a future proof machine (5-10 years) any advice is most welcome.

Assuming 1920x1080, 3 GB should be enough.
If you plan on going higher soon then you might consider more VRAM.

Don't expect any machine to run games decently after 10 years. After 10 years, even high end machines are generally considered low end.

If gaming, that is nowhere near 5-10 year future proof.

so basically how long would it last until i have to absolutely replace the graphic card? and also will the 6gb underperform with a single monitor compared to the 3gb ??
