Hello,

I have a problem with my second screen, it won’t work.
The screen stays in sleeping mode and is not detected in the ‘Screen resolution option’.
Display device on: Composite says the computer.
When I option extended screen, my mouse is moving out of my screen but the second screen won’t activate.

I’m using a Displayport cable to HDMI, and an adapter for HDMI to DisplayPort.
The HMDI Adapter is plugged in the PC himself.

These are the things I am using for my second screen.

My computer:

Dell Optiplex 7010
Inter (R) Core i5-3570 CPU@ 3.40 GhZ
4 GB installed memory RAM
64-bit OS

Display adapters: Intell (R) HD Graphics
Monitors: Dell P2210

Yes the second screen works, I tried it.

What to do now ??
How can my computer detect my second screen ?
I am not a hero in computers ;p

Greetings

Double check to make sure the second screen is displaying from the correct port/input. Normally you won't have the option to extend your desktop if there is only one monitor detected. Also have you tried swapping the cables for the second display?

Ok. So let me get this straight.

Sorry. Don't mean to offend. Just trying to get onto the same page as you

You have 2 Dell 2210 Monitors Both connected VIA HDMI that connect to one Mini display port adapter and one is a displayport to hdmi cable. The one works. The other one doesn't. You have taken the hdmi cable connected to the working monitor and connected it to the non working one and nothing happens? You have taken the one connected to the non working one and connected it to the working one and it works fine?

You have tested the working monitor on both ports/cables?
You have connected the non working one to both ports/cables?
Have you restarted the computer while having both monitors connected?

No problem, i could had explain it better.
Sorry for my English, i'm from Holland.

So let's see.
I've got two monitors, one Dell P2210 and one Dell P2213. The Dell P2210 is my second screen and the P2213 is my first screen. I forgot to say that my first screen is connected with a Blue VGA cable. My PP2210 is connected with an Displayport cable. The displayport is plugged in the screen and the end of it is a HDMI cable. That cable is plugged in a HDMI adapter who converts it back to Displayport (not mini). That display port is plugged into my computer.

I swapped the Displayport of the second screen to the first, and the VGA from te first to the second. so basically nothing changes.

So

1: Yes
2: Yes
3: Yes

The VGA Cable works in both ways, the Displayport Cable not. The PC won't detect or identify him. So if i plug the VGA in the P2210, it works. And if i plug the Displayport in the P2213, it won't. So the VGA Cable works on both screens, the displayport Cable at none. The Displayport cable is new, i guess i can't be broken. I was guessing the drivers were not updated enough. But i don't know wich drivers need to be updated. Or maybe a change of something.

Well I actually think that you shouldnt be converting to hdmi and back to displayport. I have a feeling thats where the issue lies. Maybe get a standard display port to display port cable or get a hdmi - dvi cable that you connect to the adapter. Make sure the adapter is the one connected to the PC and the DVI goes into the monitor.

Btw. When you connect the monitor and it shows as composite device. If you go into the settings or properties of that composite device, sometimes theres a setting there for the frequency type. Some hdmi setting etc. Maybe try that?

I guess you are right, but the Dell Optiplex 7010 has only one VGA input. It's weird that they sell those things and i won't work. But if i need something new i guess it's going to be an Displayport cable without any adapters and upgrades. Just like it should be.

I can't find anything in the properties about HDMI settings.
