Hey guys today I set up a power supply in my new rig, from another and this power supply works at this point of time, just to see if my new components work, I put the power supply back into the old computer with all the plugs into the mother board correctly, I tried to turn it on, nothing happens, I live in an area which 230v is correct, I didn't know this at the time, flicked the switch to 115 and saw a light which was blue slowly increase in brightness then suddenly went out, lasted a second, no smoke though or sparks and not any burn smell, just the light, can someone explain what happened and if this might still be working? thanks

P.S. Computer was turned off by the way

it wont work thats for sure.
if you want to see if it works jump the green with the black wire on the 24 pin comector if te fn does not start do not be spprised sory wont work.
you swiched it to the 110 volt and you gave 230 twice the voltage.

The power supply is 100% gone, you can either take the computer to a lab for a full test, or try your luck and get a new power supply, hoping that it didn't burn anything else.
I would personally try the second option, as the power supply will have to be replaced anyway, and if you do as well you should buy a good one with an automatic voltage adjustment and 80+ from a reputable brand such as Seasonic / Corsair etc.

If you need a power supply recommendation please post your full computer specs and budget range.
