Im planning to upgrade my poor intel core 2 duo e4300 1.8ghz for a intel core 2 duo e6700 2.66ghz and im wondering if this cpu is fine for games like GTA 4 , far cry 3 , saints row 3, battlefield 3 , will i get 30fps + ?

My specs:

Intel core 2 Duo e4300 1.8ghz
4gb of RAm ddr2
Radeon hd 7750
Win 7 64 bit
PSU 400W
Resolution 1400x900
Mobo p5-lv 1394

I would be surprised if you got 30 fps with an e6700, you just need a new motherboard so you can get a better CPU than that. What is your budget?

Normally I would have recommended a quadcore such as Q8200 but since it only supports e6700 take it.

e4500 (is 400MHz faster than yours) vs e6750 - here you can get an idea what you can be expected from a cpu upgrade so you will get a significant boost.

I can't say if you will get a cpu but I do recommend you to overclock it as far as possible at it's default Vcore.

With e4300 on battlefield i get 40-45 fps inside a building , outside i get like 20-30 , but on gta 4 i get 20-25 fps outside on lowest which is not good. Thats why im planning to buy a better processor and i dont have enough money for new mobo ;/

Then go for the cpu upgrade. I have given you a link where you can buy one.
