For an AMD/Radeon next-gen rig is this a good system?

I know in a previous question I said I don't want to build a PC but there seem to be no decent gaming rigs on the market these days and everyone recommends you make your own. Thus, I was thinking to build as next-gen a gaming PC as possible. I would love to go with Intel and Nvidia but I don't have that kind of money right now unless I save up longer. Anyhow, my temporary specs are below and I would really appreciate a response:

AMD FX-8350

Radeon HD 7870 2gb

16gigs of RAM

500w PSU

Suitable Motherboard, Probably ASUS (they do bundles on Amazon)

1TB Internal Hard-drive Space

PC Case

Windows 7

I already have a USB CD-drive so I don't need that. But is this a good set-up? Will it handle current, older, and next-gen games on at least high with solid FPS? I would love maxed out settings but I don't mind turning them down a tad to get better performance.

Could this run games like The Witcher 3, Dragon Age 3, Elder Scrolls Online, Assassin's Creed IV, War of the Vikings, and Ever Quest Next for example? Many thanks in advance!! :)

my PC specs ( or you could just roll over to my avatar )

i5-3350P

ASrock B75 Pro3-M
HD 7770

Seasonic S12 II 520 watt

Corsair Vengeance 2x4 GB

Western Digital 500 GB

1600 x 900 monitor ( thinking of upgrading to 1920 x 1080 )

With that , I could max out Batman Arkham City , Crysis ( the first one ) , TF2 ( duh ) , Call of duty World at War. I had to lower the settings of Sniper elite V2 a tad bit to get 60+ FPS

So don't worry.

I have the OEM Windows 7 and I don't think I'm doing anything illegal. After all , the product was meant for system builders. I think it's only illegal if you change your hardware ( not peripherals ). I don't think Mircosoft has ever sued or caught anyone doing it so it should be fine.

That was a bit expensive and AMD seemed cheaper but I might go with yours after all I guess. I dunno. There are so many conflicting articles. Cause if I go for Intel then I'd want an i7 CPU and GTX 770 or something but AMD is cheaper though obviously not as good. I'm just very confused after reading so many AMD/Intel war articles.

Just read the articles I posted. A similar AMD CPU to the i5-3350P is the FX-6300. But Intel motherboards seem to have better features at a lower price ( or at least where I live ).

Read this to solve your " Fx-6300 vs i5-3350P " question.
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-cpu-review-overclock,3106-6.html

From that article , it also states that the i5-3350P is the best for performance per dollar out of all the mentioned CPUs.

The HD 7970 is cheaper and has similar perfromance to the GTX 770. Furthermore , you get 3 free games

That sounds good actually and I am strongly considering this. Only problem is the OS cause I want to get the official one not the OEM version. I know it's more expensive but I want to do things legit here and that one is for system builders not a retail thing. I will most likely get this PC though. But do you think next-gen games would require an i7 CPU or a similar AMD one? Or would they be fine on an i5 Quad Core PC?

Will I need to buy individual cables and glue to stick all the parts together? Or will the components come with them? Also, what cables will I need to plug it into a monitor and the wall? I have an extension cable and a monitor plus a keyboard/mouse so that's all good. Plus, can you choose what free games you get with the 7970 card? Or do they pick that for you? Many thanks in advance and I will get this model as soon as I have enough cash!

I cracked a smile when I first read your comment. No glue has ever been needed to build a computer. It's all screws. And yes , your components should come with the screws. The motherboard should come with the most screws screws.

Everything you would ever need for building a PC is all included except for a screwdriver and some zip-ties for cable management.

You should have at least 2 fans in your case. the case I recommended , the NZXT Source 210 Elite , comes with a rear exhaust fan. So you should get another 120mm Fan for the front. You could put another on top if you feel that the temperatures are still high.

Spots where fans are supported,
FRONT, 2 X 120mm
REAR, 1 X 120mm @ 1200rpm (included)
TOP, 2 X 120/140mm
BOTTOM, 1 x 120mm

A good reasonable case fan would be the Coolermaster JetFlo. It has LED lights too.

Airflow is important. When arranging all the cables from the Power Supply , try not to block the fans.

The white version of the case sure looks classy , but both the white and black version don't have front mesh for better air intake.

This video should help , especially with the wires from the Power supply and where to insert them into the Motherboard.

Many thanks for the help!! Now I just feel plain silly asking that question. It's just that I've seen some kind of glue in many gaming builds so I thought I might need it. That is very good. What about cables to attach the PC to the Monitor? Are those also included? Or do I need to buy my own? Again, much appreciated!

Ah you see I already have cables for my current monitor but I am giving my old PC to my younger brother so we can do multiplayer (Age of Empires HD Edition) so I want to leave as much with him as possible. Meaning all I will take is the screen as it was 60 quid from Amazon. It's a BenQ screen. I think it was a 22" screen.

Cause I think we have an old screen lying around somewhere so all I'll need is a cable. If not I can just get a new screen cheap somewhere. Any cheap Monitor's you'd recommend with wide-screen capability? Many thanks! :)

oh British slang ? I believe " quid " also means " pounds " .

The size of the monitor does not always mean its gonna be clearer. It's the screen resolution. The HD 7970 is a really good card, but to unlock its full potential , you might want to get a 1920 x 1080 if your current monitor isn't.

but I'm still a little confused...

You're giving your old PC to your Brother. that I understand , but what do you mean when you say that you will only be taking the screen ? Are you giving it to your brother ?

Get the OEM version and it should save at least $30.

I might give him the screen but I think we have some old ones lying around somewhere. But from what you said about the screen resolution I might just get a new one then.
