Wont boot into windows with 2nd HDD

I got a Samsung ssd and a Western Digital mechanical Hdd. If I have the western Digital hooked up it won't boot into Windows. Its a new hdd and I haven't even put anything on it. It was working fine for the first week or so. I'm a bit of a novice so if I left any important details out let me know. Any one have any solutions.

Gave this a shot, it still just stops at the windows screen. I tried waiting it out but it never loads. I even switched the sata port it was plugged into. Still no luck. Could the drive have just gone bad? Like I said I didn't even save anything to it.

My ssd is my main drive and has windows 8 on it. The pc will boot normally if I have the ssd hooked up alone. But if I hook up the mechanical drive it stops at the Windows flag screen. I did get it to load into Windows twice by waiting it out. It goes through and says it fixing errors then when I get to the desktop if I open any program it locks up.
