Who has BF4 and a 780?
Just installed an EVGA 780 Classified and not sure how its running, for reference I'm using a single monitor at 1080p and get the following FPS in a 32 man server online (not recorded by Fraps but just me watching):
Ultra 40-60fps
High 40-60fps
Medium 50-70fps
Low 60-80fps
Now my old 650ti would was easily seeing 70-90fps on Medium settings so as you can see the new 780 seems to be lacking a little and I'm not sure why?
System spec and 3Dmark score below:
Win7 Ultimate
MSI FXA990-GD80 Mobo
AMD8350 4.4GHz (8-core)
EVGA 780 Classified
16GB Corsair 1600MHz RAM
Corsair TX750 PSU

Use the LATEST possible drivers, bf4 right now is very un-optimized for BF4, so use the latest drivers, if you didn't, do some overclocks, it should start to run arround 90-110 on ultra with 1080p, hope this helps
Thanks already on latest drivers. Thats something to aim for then. I've never OC'd anything before, there a 'go to' guide anywhere? I do have an auto overclock on my mobo, advisable to use that?
EDIT/ the oc function on my board is for cpu only. So is there a dummies guide to oc'ing the 780? Or are there any good known settings?

"
absolutly, another problem is this, have you settup origins/game to be installed in Program Files and not Program Files(x86).
If you have it installed in X86 folder, windows will treat it automaticly as a 32 bit.
so check your origin settings, install etc. "
A thing that fixed most issues in one guy, if not, well it is poor optimization, and your game should pretty much run with 60 fps, ill check the benchmarks for you

Sorry for making all the hastle to you, your gtx 780 is kinda poorly optimized for bf4 and should run at that fps, you needed to get a nice amd card to do the trick for you.

That is the benchmark from Austin Evans who explains it all nicely, BTW, you should look for some tutorials on net for overclocking your 780, ive never overclocked too.

For your reference, I have two 780s, both OC'd.
I'll get anywhere from 90-130 FPS on Ultra with 4X MSAA, I don't really watch my FPS all that much, but those are the numbers that I've seen on the occasion that I do. With no MSAA I'll hit upwards of ~160 FPS.
I know it's not the same as I have two, but it'll give you a general idea.
With a single 780, 4X MSAA, you should average roughly 55-60 FPS. Without MSAA, it should be around 70, but can be slightly higher.

Agreed, he should have arround 65 fps, turn his msaa down or maybe play the game on medium, it really isn't that much difference from ultra, or he should sell his card for 650 dollars and buy r9 290 for 400 dollars and save some nice 250 dollars for a ssd or something else

My gtx560ti classified with all setiings on high with no msaa and 1920x1080 and im pulling consistent 75+fps without the vsync on. I upgraded my os to windows 8 and thats what made the difference for me. The game is optimised for windows 8. On win7 I was struggling to stay at 50+fps. Just food for thought. The 780 classified is already oc'd and should be taking that game outback and whippin its ass.
And for the one who said $650 for a 780 is crazy. The 780 classified is max $579 and that was a week ago.

I don't think I need to OC as other people are seeing good performance standard. I am tempted by Win8.1 but my 650ti ran BF4 at a constant 80fps on Medium with no problem on Win7.
Now I know BF4 is flakey atm but talking to people on the forum with the same or lesser GPU I'm convinced something is wrong, be it settings, drivers or hardware. For example I've spoken to a 770 owner and he sees 60+fps on Ultra all day long.
For no reason whatsoever I can fire it up and play a few rounds and see a good 80-120fps on Ultra @ 1080p, this is good :-) But randomly I can start playing and see only 40-50fps, I even tried playing yesterday and only saw 24fps! Lowering in game graphics settings to High or Medium does not have much of an effect, it might raise the max fps I see a little but it still drops down to 40fps every few seconds. So I'm not convinced the game is at fault here.
I'm also hearing people say "you won't get 60+fps with a single 780 Classy on BF4" but as above, when mine is running smooth it sails way past 60fps and sits between 80-120fps so I know for sure its possible at 1080p.
I am on the latest drivers, I always fully remove drivers between installs using Driver Sweeper and run a clean installation upon installing new drivers.
The rest of my spec is in my sig but its worth noting whenever I stick my old 650ti back in the rig it runs super smooth and super stable at 80fps (albeit on Medium in game settings, but as above switching to medium on the 780 is still erratic)
I have ran a couple of 3Dmark11 basic tests, results here:
http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/7489814
http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/7499944
Also I keep getting a BSOD on 3Dmark11 when on the first CPU test? It takes a couple of attempts to get through it.
My card also makes a tinny vibration noise when running, video here: http://youtu.be/RZkswJxEKZA It doesn't sound very loud in the video but that vibration noise is louder than anything else in the rig?
Just to add, today same round in BF4, different graphics settings:
It can spike to the higher numbers but usually sits near the lower ones :-(
LOW = 50-110fps
MED = 50-100fps
HIGH = 50-100fps
ULTRA = 50-80fps
My problem is these results will vary by a massive amount if I try it again later on today or tomorrow etc?! Also on MED settings my 650ti will run 80fps all day long so what is going on?

It all sounds like a bottleneck, but there is no way a 8350 would bottleneck, especially in BF4, so it is some minor driver instbillity, or maybe a heat issue, i remember long ago playing cod4 on buttery smooth 125 frames a second than see random drops to 15 frames, and i realized it was the heat issue, try cleaning everything once again, and/or return the card....

All these things that people keep telling you to do is a complete waste of time. You're the first one to have this problem regardless of drivers, regardless of hardware and regardless of Windows version. If there was an issue with drivers, Windows version, etc. we would have heard about it long ago. Your card is bad. Take it back and get another one. There is no reason on earth that a GTX 780 should be getting 24fps in BF4 on any settings. All this crap about optimization is just that, crap. Optimization might give you another 5-10fps but that's it. If a card runs badly like this out of the gate when there were no problems previously, the card is bad, end of story. Get another one and your problems should disappear.

So annoyed with it atm, I can turn it on and it'll give me 50fps it could be 30fps or 70fps randomly. Thats what seems wrong to me is how random it is. Should get an email back Monday so will see.

You made no sense. It was already suggested he swap out the card but since he clearly wasnt doing that other alternatives were thrown out there. If the optimization was crap like you said then why would you follow it up by saying it gives you (proven i add) performance. Now whether if would fix his issue or not is another issue but dont degrade what someone has said just because you think it may be insignificant and then admit in the same post that it gives results......Doesn't make any sense and is rude to say everyone elses ideas are crap.

So tried just BF4 again and only got 47fps.
Task manager showed CPU 50-60%
EVGA Precision X showed GPU 50-70% (with the odd spike to 70-90%)
So what's going on here, is the CPU holding the GPU back or the other way around?
This was after 5 mins of gameplay online...
![]()
With the same settings offline on BF4 the GPU goes up to 70-80%, the FPS goes up to 60-90fps but the CPU stays at 50%.
Surely my GPU should be up around 100% and I should be seeing 80-120fps online?
