Hi - I have a Camrecorder ( Sony HDR-XR500 ) where the screen is very small and I would like to connect the camcorder to my "Lenovo T500 2241" so I get a bigger screen when I recorded video's. Can it be done?

and if yes - how? (Like a detailed guide how to connect - Please. )

Your camcorder has HDMI out connector. If you connect a HDMI Monitor/TV here, can you see what you're recording?

There is also an USB connecttor, but you cannot use it for streaming of live recording.

I have a HDMI cable plugged camcorder with a plug that fits Display port on the computer, but there will be no picture. I think that the display connector into your computer only can be used to display the computer screen on a external monitor.

The USB connection on the Camcorder, can only be use to copy from camcorder to computer...

Your computer' Display port is output-only device, so you won't see anything. Have you tried connecting your camcorder to a TV/monitor? Can you use TV/monitor while shooting?

So, you then have two options:
- get a small HDMI monitor (I got 19" combo TV/monitor for less than $100 some months ago). Of course, there are special small-form-factor HDMI monitors, even with camera mounts, but they are much more expensive.
- use some HDMI-to-RCA converter, and then video capture device, and video capture software, to route HDMI signal onto your laptop. I would'nt gp this route...
