OEM mobo broke, is there a way to get a new product key, without dropping $100 on a new Windows 7 DVD?

Okay, here's my situation. My old mobo, with the Core i3 processor in it.... broke. Won't POST or anything.

Since then, I've bought a new mobo to replace it, but a new mobo = new Windows 7.

So is it possible for me to call Microsoft or get a new key?

Or is it possible that the key on the sticker on the case may be a different key?

Alot of the time if you replaced a bad board Microsoft will let you activate it. Use the phone activation and if needed speak with a Microsoft rep.

Okay, thanks. How does that work though? When you try to activate it, does it say key invalid and then give you the number to call?

Or do you have to find their number yourself?
