best gaming cpu for a 775 for under $100

MCP73VT-PM is my motherboard model with the socket of LGA 775. I'm looking at Q6600 for running battlefield 3. My graphics card is more than enough to run it, but my CPU is limiting me. Any ideas if the processor i linked above is compatible with my motherboard or any suggestions for any other card?

Sorry, but it seems that motherboard will only support Core 2 Duo CPUs.

IDK whether the above guy misread you, but a Q6600 will run on a socket 775 fine. I should know. I have one. (Q6600)

I have also seen geekbench reports with that spec.
