Hi there.
Laptop is HP Pavilion dv6.
With no battery it will not start, the light next to dc input socket is lit but pressing the power button gets zero response.
If the battery is present the system will boot and perform well.
However the battery does not charge.
I have tried with a known good power adapter.
I have carefully disassembled & ensured all connectors etc in place.
Any help gratefully appreciated.

This I know isn't the answer but my hp dv6 doesn't need a battery to start, in fact my hp book says not to leave the battery in it when using an ac adaptor for long periods of time to help extend battery life. saying that theres a few hundred hp dv6 models. it could be the battery but also could be the power management and charging circuit which is on the motherboard.

I don't know if you have all your hp software but somewhere to start would be to open HP SUPPORT Assistant and click on BATTERY AND PREFORMANCE then select HP BATTERY CHECK. It will read the battery ic and tell you if battery is good or bad based off of it. note its not a load test it just reads the battery info. If it says battery is bad then you should start by getting new battery. If you have uninstalled the Support asssistent download it from hp site.

The other question u say the battery is not charging, but is it discharging or maintain even? What does windows say(charging, plugged in(not the same as charging usually shows up if your battery is to warm or cold), or discharging)?

last resort there also is a battery test in the bios or start up selection( usually F1). This usually does a full discharge and charge of the battery and can take hours to check it and if your power adaptor is bad would leave u with a completely uncharged battery

Did you get a solution?
