Hi

What do you mean by hard disk security ?

Internal drive or external USB drive ?

ATA spec power on password requires the password
(or use option to run low level format before clearing password)
(applies to both SATA and ATA/IDE interface drives)

software or hardware encryption requires password

[NSA/CIA etc may know how to bypass security but you do not have access to their facilities]

when computer powers up, I get hard drive security, page then I hit enter, then I have to enter password, then go to windows and enter my password

It is not clear a Bios password has been set

This requires you go into BIOS, take option to change password and set password to null
(eg enter or return key)

Windows account does not stop this happening

Only if master password set (which prevents Bios changes but not preventing bootup) can you stop some one else setting passwords.


It could also be encrypted hard disk software such as Truecrypt password coming before Windows Logon

What is exact model of PC/Laptop ?

he is a liar, and he says he didn't do it. He has lied about so many things I wouldn't believe him if he said sky is blue, I would have to look to see. LOL

The first password you described here is a BIOS password. You need to remove it so you don't have to type a BIOS password, but type in a supervisor password to prevent him from messing with the BIOS settings... then create a new "Regular User" account for him to use, and also secure the administrative account/s with new password/s... this should block the grandkid from doing any more of his evil deeds.
