Hi,
I am confused which memory to use in my Corei5 4670K system on ASRock Z87E ITX MB. I will primarily be using the system for browsing, gaming (FPS, Flying), programming and occasional video editing. I will not be overclocking right now, maybe a few months later
First I am confused between whether I should get 8 GB or 16 GB
Second, which combination to get, should I
Get 1600MHz RAM, CAS 8
1. Can I overclock lower speed RAM to higher speed (eg. 2400)
2. What's the difference between overclocking a 1600 MHz RAM to 2400 and simply running one marked as 2400 ?
OR
Get 2400MHz RAM, CAS 11
1. Can I downclock it to 1600 initially, and lower the CAS to 7 OR 8?
2. WIll it perform better or worse underclocked to 1600MHz than a stick which is for 1600MHz at CAS8
3. WIll downclocking the RAM, make any other part of the system slower ?
4. If I want to run it at 2400, can I run it at 2400 natively without overclocking the RAM or any other part of the system ?
Is this a good deal ? GSKILL 16GB 2400
Thanks
