I am cloning a 500gb HDD to M500 480gb SSD, there is no OS as this is on its own SSD. My question is, will the system recognise all the games on the new SSD, or is it a case of having to re-instal all 380gb worth ?

If you are cloning it, just make sure that the drive letter in Windows is the same for both old HDD and new SSD drives and you should be okay.

The old HDD was Drive G, and the new SSD is Drive E. After cloning I should remove the HDD, and change the SSD to Drive G, via Windows Computer Management ?

Yes, as the system will look for the games on the 'old' drive.Disconnect the old drive before rebooting.
