I just got the Sound Blaster Z card...haven't used SB card since the PCI Sound Blaster PRO 16 since I had a USB headset. However, out of all of my PC components good directional sound is the only thing lacking.
I have a young kid at home so I can't use speakers I can only use a headphones. However, all the Surround Sound Headphones seem to be USB headphones which utilize the less than stellar sound processors...currently I have the Logitech G93 Wireless Headphones, I like them but I want to experience better quality sound.

So I bought the Sound Blaster Z card for $20 I figured it was a steal...however I don't have headphones to use the card with...every headphones I've seen are USB and I am hard pressed to find a good quality sub $130 surround sound (5.1 etc) headphones that employ a 3.5mm jacks.

Usb headphones incorporate their own sound processing as you know so there's no way i know of adapting usb to 3.5mm.

There are surround headphones that still use 3.5mm jacks like this one,

There'd be others out there, but for the price this set looks pretty good.
