Hello

I have a Dell Optiplex 960 that i use for gaming. It has Intel core i3 dual core 3.0 GHz right now, but im looking at getting a Intel xeon quad core with 2.40 GHz. Is this better for gaming?

My second question is, What socket does my computer have? I think its 775, But im not 100%.

Thanks guys

Which xeon processors are you buying in particular. They have a huge range . Some may fit in your motherboard socket and some may not.
I think you have LGA 1155 socket on your motherboard . Since a majority of i3 or all of them run on LGA 1155.

So if you were me and playing games like crysis 2, Sniper Elite, World of tanks and some strategy games, What would you do? keep the dual, or get the quad?

Your mobo support only intel (lga 1155) you cant put amd in tha mobo. You will waste money only..if you want amd you will need mobo because there are motherboards who support amd and mobos who support intel.Doesn't exict mobo who support intel and amd the both.

If you aren't sure it will fit in your computer then you should use http://pcpartpicker.com/ it checks if there is any compatibility issues and sorry if this is a little bit late
