I was planning on asking for the Nvidia Shield for Christmas but I just saw that the new Tegra Note 7 looks pretty good too. I want this for gaming, browsing the web, and more. I don't think I would stream games to my PC. Which would you recommend, and why?

Also, apologies for the category, I didn't know where this would go. And, which device do you think has better games? More fun games/more popular games in general?

I would tell you to get the nvidia Tegra note 7 instead of the sheild. This is because the main reason someone would get the nvidia sheild is for PC Streaming and nvidia was marketing that the sheild can pc stream games.Since you won't pc stream games I recommend you get the Tegra note 7 since it does have a higher screen resolution and a Tegra note 7 but 1GB of ram instead of 2.
I currently have both and while the sheild is more powerful in some benchmarks I did the Tegra note 7 scored higher than the sheild.I would get the Tegra note 7 since it is $100 cheapier.

I'm interested in the Tegra Note as well, very compelling for the price point. I am interested to hear other people's opinions as well. From what I've seen, the Tegra note is a beast in the benchmarks, occasionally even scoring a bit higher than Shield, though it's likely an anomaly. It lacks a 1080p screen, yet it's the same one from the Kindle Fire HD and I am a huge fan of that panel. The 1GB of RAM is almost a deal breaker for me, because I intend to play games when I purchase a tablet, and I fear that newer games will start requiring more and more RAM to run smoothly. Nevertheless, KitKat seems to be efficient with RAM and if Google continues a trend of trying to lower system requirements, 2GB of RAM may not be a necessity, especially only at 720p.

If I were you, I'd hold off for a few more days until some more reviews come out about the Note. The new Nexus 10 is also rumored to be coming out soon, which could be a great balance between price and gaming prowess, but that's really besides the point. Should be interesting to see how the Note fairs in such a competitive market.

As for games, they are going to offer the exact same titles, the Note is essentially a Shield tablet with less RAM and a slightly lower clockspeed.

The Nexus 10? Something new? Why can't they hold off on making something new and then I can make my decision and I won't have to change my mind again.

Well the Nexus 7 2nd Gen has been out for a while now, the Nexus 10 has been needing an update. There's nothing out right now at an attractive price point that offers ground breaking performance. If the Kindle Fire HDX had a microSD slot and stock Android, that'd be my go-to option.

Actually, NVIDIA now also supports all SHIELD-PC features with the Note 7.
