I was planning on asking for the Nvidia Shield for Christmas but I just saw that the new Tegra Note 7 looks pretty good too. I want this for gaming, browsing the web, and more. I don't think I would stream games to my PC. Which would you recommend, and why?
Also, apologies for the category, I didn't know where this would go.
I'm interested in the Tegra Note as well, very compelling for the price point. I am interested to hear other people's opinions as well. From what I've seen, the Tegra note is a beast in the benchmarks, occasionally even scoring a bit higher than Shield, though it's likely an anomaly. It lacks a 1080p screen, yet it's the same one from the Kindle Fire HD and I am a huge fan of that panel. The 1GB of RAM is almost a deal breaker for me, because I intend to play games when I purchase a tablet, and I fear that newer games will start requiring more and more RAM to run smoothly. Nevertheless, KitKat seems to be efficient with RAM and if Google continues a trend of trying to lower system requirements, 2GB of RAM may not be a necessity, especially only at 720p.
If I were you, I'd hold off for a few more days until some more reviews come out about the Note. The new Nexus 10 is also rumored to be coming out soon, which could be a great balance between price and gaming prowess, but that's really besides the point. Should be interesting to see how the Note fairs in such a competitive market.
As for games, they are going to offer the exact same titles, the Note is essentially a Shield tablet with less RAM and a slightly lower clockspeed.
