Looking to upgrade my Dell XPS 8300 with a new GPU, Power Supply, and (possibly) RAM
Question about RAM: Would it be worth upgrading the ram from my existing 6gb/ would i notice the difference when gaming?
-Follow up on RAM: Took a look into my case and noticed that all 4 ram slots have sticks in them and are numbered: 3 1 4 2
I was under the impression that i have 2x3 gb ram so i am a bit confused since i expected to see 2 vacant slots. (maybe 2x2gb and 2x1gb?) Also slot 3 and 4 have black tabs to release the sticks and slots 1 and 2 have white tabs (not sure if that means anything)
Question about Installing: Is it typically better to install one part at a time or can i throw them all in my case all at once (first time installing PSU and RAM upgrade)?
Approximate Purchase Date: Next 2 Weeks
Budget Range: $400-$600
System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, movies, surfing net
Are you buying a monitor: No
Parts to Upgrade: Power supply (Modular), GPU, add or replace ram
Do you need to buy OS: No
Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Newegg/amazon or any reliable
Location: Sacramento, California, USA
Parts Preferences: PSU- Seasonic or most reliable within budget
GPU- Leaning towards NVIDIA but currently have AMD and have had no problems
Overclocking: No
SLI or Crossfire: No
Your Monitor Resolution: 1920x1200
Additional Comments: Looking to spend around $250 on GPU and what i need on the rest to get reliable/ compatible hardware
Currently have a Radeon HD 6850 which is a snug fit, need a card with around the same dimensions (have a little more room, around 9.5-10 inches)
Why Are You Upgrading: No major problems with current build, just want to get a bit more out of newer games (Bioshock Infinite and more) graphically.
Current system specs
- Intel Core i5-2320 CPU @ 3.00 GHz
- 6.0 GB DDR3 RAM
- 1 TB Hard drive
- Radeon HD 6850 GPU 1GB
- 460 W PSU
Currently Interested in:
GeForce GTX 760 (from October Best Bang for $)

Power Supply- Dont know much about what is good/not good. I believe that the dimensions are about right (roughly measured 6.2" x 5.5" x 3.4" while in case), not sure if its powerful enough or if it has the connectors i need (looking to you experts here)

Want to make sure that the the hardware i get is compatible and any recommendations/ knowledge would be appreciated. Sorry for the long post and thanks!
