I just grabbed a cheap Hp dc 7900 small form factor pc and Need to find a cheap low power low profile card.... I believe all ive got is 240w and i see lots of reviews of people using cards that recommend 400w without much trouble...Id rather not risk killing my computer, im just trying to be able to run some mild games like WoW and star wars online... If anyone could link me to an inexpensive graphics card that will fit in my comp without risking damage or replacing the psu id greatly appreciate it... i believe i have a pci x16 slot... Also ive seen a few similar threads on here with the same questions but most of the links to products on newegg are discontinued. so i figured id start a new one..sorry to open it back up :p  please and thank you.

Im not really sure which brand i want...ive not bought a a video card in about a decade and im not looking to go all out or anything... i just want something in the 30-50$ price range that i can use without upgrading my power supply... all its really gotta do is be able to run stuff like minecraft and WoW with medium settings...

Thats a low budget did you try the onboard graphics first to see if they would run your games ? because 30 to 50 bucks isnt going to be light from day from the onboard!

I did. its a 256 mb chipset and i tried playing star wars on the lowest settings in 800x600 and the fps is terrible and the game constantly freezes for a few seconds... its pretty much unplayable.. I dont need much i was thinking id do fine with a 1gb or even a 512mb graphics card... killing floor runs pretty decent though

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... i was looking at this and it fits perfectly in my budget. im just uncertain of the risks of putting it in my computer since it recommends a 400w power supply and im not entirely certain my bios are good enough for it

Its not the amount of ram its the architecture of the card the card you choosen wont be any better then you have..

best card radeon

bare min card

far better cost more but buy a card about the same as your onboard graphics and your tossing cash out the windows for some performance you have to pony up a FEW bucks hope this helps.

My power supply is only 240w and those say they requite atleast 400w i dont really know much on the details of that... im told they dont actually used all that much power if you arent playing really demanding games and you can get away with it.

I am running Zotac nvidia card in a HP dc5700 with 240w psu -- and it runs pretty good. DC5700 has only a PCIE x1 (small interface) (slot that appears to be PCIE x16 is for ADD2 Support Only). so can only use PCIE x1 card. I believe dc7900 can use PCIE x 16 card ? Both are available from Zotac in the GT610.

PCIE x 1 Card -- ZT-60607-10L

PCIE x 16 Card - ZT-60602-10L

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Both cards are generally available for under $50 - I have both cards, and got the ZT-60602-10L for $10 on Black Friday 2012.

The only one that I can vouch for sure with the HP sff w/240w psu is the ZT-60607-10L , however the ZT-60602-10L is supposed to be a low power draw as well.
