I just got an idea, would it be possible taking off a gpu heatsink, swiping off the paste, putting it into some kind of a bottle, stirring it with something and then reapplying it?

Solution
A tube of thermal grease costs a few dollars. A GPU costs hundreds of dollars (if it's a decent one). Don't be a cheapskate - you'll only regret it.

You wil be able to re-use it if you manage to scrape enough off of your CPU. But Ideally I agree with Blaise170. It's better to buy new thermal paste. :)

Depends what type of thermal paste it is.

You won't be able to scrape of thermal paste that comes on a stock Intel CPU heatsink, because of you scrape that off it turns into dust.

I was actually gonna try and do it on my GPU if it's fine that's why I posted in graphics forum.

What if I evenly spread it again wnd put the fan on it? Would that work?

I really suggest just getting a new tube. Stock paste usually isn't as good as aftermarket paste, the stock will probably be very dry when you try to take it off, and mixing with water is a bad idea considering electronics don't like water...

You can get a tube with enough for both CPU and GPU for like $4 from Amazon with their Prime two day shipping.

No, I meant like keeping it on there and evenly spreading it so there are no bubbles without taking off the paste.

lol, that'd be pretty weird imo. I'd buy new thermal paste.
