So I know that if I want to disable the Intel HD graphics I can do that in the BIOS. I also know that the system switches from Intel to Nvidia when going from desktop to games. But how do I know that it is switching?

It would be immediately obvious in any game, if you are getting 10FPS you are on the Intel graphics, if you are getting 60FPS you are using the 670m. However a quick Googling came up with this:

If games run smoothly above 720p at higher settings, then it's the 670m at work. The Intel HD would be chugging if it were outputting at that level

Do not disable the Intel HD graphics in BIOS, it will give you a black screen, just leave it since it's there for power saving and the 670m will last longer since it's not used as often
